Traumatic Brain Injury is a terrifying and life-changing event that can happen to anyone. Everything by which you could define yourself - you memory, personality, and physical or mental capacity - is at stake when the brain suffers acute damage. This short documentary is about three people who have encountered changes in their personal identity through acquired and traumatic brain injuries, and explores their struggle to find new identities. \\Tom, a wildlife biologist, wakes up from his injury and tries to fathom who he is if not a scientist. With the near-total loss of his eyesight and the possibility of never fully walking again, he must re-orient himself in the world. Shay, a Los Angeles artist, explores his own identity after his childhood brain injury through his dark and brilliant artwork. The third survivor, Andy, is in a perpetual state of happiness... unable to reflect on his change as a person. As the people around him ponder his identity, he moves through life barely aware of himself. Full of emotion and thought-provoking stories, this documentary opens the experience of traumatic and acquired brain injury to anyone interested in the subject.
